- Evaluation and treatment for a variety of medical conditions that may be helped through managing stress (also called psychophysiological disorders). Examples include migraine headaches, fibromyalgia, arthritis pain, low back pain, pelvic pain, bruxism, insomnia, or irritable bowel syndrome.
- Preparation for surgery to improve outcomes including decreased anxiety, faster healing, decreased blood loss, greater comfort, and improved recovery.
- Teach strategies for coping with medical procedures, such as multiple IVs, needle phobia, biopsies, fertility procedures.
- Counseling for adjustment to new medical diagnoses such as a new diagnosis of cancer, diabetes, or heart disease. Assistance with medication or chemotherapy side effects without the use of more medication.
- Psychotherapy for you and/or your loved ones to facilitate coping with chronic conditions such as recurrent cancer, multiple sclerosis, or Crohn’s disease. Goals may include restoring optimism and living life more fully.
- Clinical hypnosis to facilitate motivation for changing habits (improving nutrition, reducing substance use or moderating activity), coping with pain, reducing menopausal hot flashes, insomnia, needle phobia, or reaching other personal goals.
- Teach strategies for coping with pain from lingering or sports injuries, using visualization or clinical hypnosis to alter pain sensation.
